Goals:

• Highlighting the individuality of the refugees through stories in order to break through the stereotyped single narrative of refugees told by local media

• Breaking down the wall between refugees and Koreans by providing an online platform for refugees to introduce themselves.
Imane's Story (uses nickname 'Suzy' for her privacy and safety)
Translation: Hello, my name is Suzy. Before coming to Korea, I studied abroad. As a result, I met many open-minded people and had a great college experience. I came back to my mother country and started to advocate for women and Berbers, a widely persecuted group of indigenous people in North Africa with whom my mother identifies with. However, my mother and I received numerous death threats through social media because of our advocacy and decided to seek refuge in Korea in 2016. I love that I can speak my beliefs without fear in Korea. More than anything though, I love that my mother is smiling and drawing again. But then, I found out that our asylum requests were denied. My world fell apart. These days, I am just thinking about how to avoid being forced to return to my mother country and face a certain death. My dream is to be granted asylum and pursue a safe and fulfilling life in Korea with my mother. I studied economics at university and can bring an outside perspective to Korea's trade market. If given the chance, I believe that my mother and I can be valuable additions to Korean society.
